Honestly what can you say about a band with a myspace URL like "gofuckyourself"? Actually a whole fucking lot. In anticipation for the new recordings to come out I decided to put this bands old demo into the share folder.
I have no problem jocking these fellas up cause they deserve every bit of it. If you have never seen a Tamerlane show in Salt Lake, then you are missing out on possibly the greatest show on earth (Barnum & Bailey can get fucked). Hell, if you live in Salt Lake and have never witnessed Tamerlane live, even if it was for a song and a half at the Addicted Cafe, then you are without excuse and should probably relocate to a place more panzy-ass to your fitting.
The demo starts off with an powerful instrumental, and doesn't stop there. It's intensely emotional, and probably some of the most pissed off music ever to grace my ears. Pretty vocals, sinister yells, guitarists that know there are more than 2 strings on their instruments, and it's all wrap up nicely with a Lifeless cover at the end.
Now there isn't a lot of bands who sound like these guys, but if you like Starkweather and Section 8, you'll probably enjoy them.

Enrage from Staten Island
Truth be told, I don't know very much about this band. I know they are from Staten Island and they just barely reunited.
I happened to see a copy of one of their cds in the used section at Hastings. You know with a name like enrage, and a picture on the back was similar to a picture you would find taken at a hardcore show, I thought I'd gamble and pay the 5 bucks to own it. I'm pretty impressed. The riffs were pretty old school, although the vocals got on my nerves, they soon grew on me.
Definitely worth a listen if you happen to be a fan of Life of Agony.

Mine Sweeper
First band I have ever done vocals for. It meant a lot to me, for the short year that we were together as a band. Most fun, in my opinion, was scooting everyone into a little circle and playing Bad Luck 13. We did a lot for having most of the band members being in a shit load of other bands. A 4 song demo? I say "mission accomplished" haha. Not much you can do when only a hand full of kids in your town are instrumentally capable. Most of the members were also in another Ogden project called By My Blood. Not a lot like the other early Ogden bands, if you were looking into something different coming out of Ogden.
Members are now in such bands as REACH, and just recently WATERBOARD.

PS. I apologize for the terrible recordings. One of the earlier test runs of JP's Hood Ass Recordings.

Love em, or hate em, it's SECTION 8
The late great Section 8! Both of these albums are amazing. Section 8 is one of my top favorite bands (if not my favorite band) of all times. I couldn't bare to just download "9 ways" so I bought it off of amazon for a whopping $39.99 (good thing too, the price just went up $78 since the CDs have officially sold out and they will never print anymore).
It's easy to see the transition from "Pain is Truth" to "9 Ways" in tuning, and recording quality, but the emotional style they've obtained stays true in both. Personally I enjoyed "9 Ways" a little more, being that I can listen to the whole CD every time without skipping a song, my friend, Jaromy, tends to lean towards "Pain is Truth" for it's rawer sound. They're lyrics are truly spiteful, and honest, and the vocals are almost haunting.
This is a band that you might actually hate listening to them for the first time, but you could come back to them awhile later and go "holy fuck! Nevermind these guys are good".
if you liked Starkweather, then you will probably like Section 8.

Pulling teeth
this band just reminds me of a lot of old school hardcore that i just love. if you are into heavy and fast much like old ringworm style hardcore, with crazy quick solos and the longest song being just over 2 minutes, this is deffinately the band for you. or if you are just the type of person that doesnt care about god, then this is deffinately the band for you. either way, i think these guys deserve some promotion, so check em out on their myspace!

speaking of grudge city......
xREFLECTx is a local salt lake city band that is by far one of those who should be put out more. If you are into bands such as 108 or Mean Season, this is definately one of those bands you will be able to get into. With amazing amounts of emotion, with some of the catchiest beats i've heard, and that salt lake city sound that we all know and love, they are an easy favorite in my book. look out for their new full length cd "The Hourglass End" on the net and in stores.

Guns up!
Guns up is a passionate hardcore band from Boston MA. They brought a lot of style in their guitar riffs that i love! it was more of a raw edge to the passionate hardcore scene, and more "old school" hardcore. You may recall us(Reach) covering their first song on the All This Is cd. if you have never heard guns up before, i really suggest giving it a try!

Starkweather
by far one of the most amazing bands to ever grace salt lake city, in my opinion. Starkweather brought so many new things to the hardcore music scene that inspired tons of people around the globe and even still are keeping it going writing new things and just getting heavier and heavier. simply amazing to say the least.

Reach + By My Blood
what can i say about ogden hardcore? well i guess were all just weirdo fucks that speak funny.
By My Blood- one of the first ogden bands out of our friends that actually played shows and recorded. mainly just catchy. not amazingly good, and not really taken too seriously, but catchy!

Reach- ex members of By My Blood. Ogdens first passionate hardcore/punk band. We tried going into a diferent style of modern day hardcore, using chords with distortion and faster breakdowns. kind of mixing styles i guess.

Prayer for Cleansing
One of my favorite bands of all time. amazing guitarists, amazing lyrics, and all together mostly insane. from the same people that created Between the buried and Me, this is much more raw, much less techmetal, and in my opinion a lot better.
