I think a mix between social distortion, and sheer terror(figures), probably cause it is the other band from sheer terror. From the creepy, danny-elfmanesque instrumentals, to the terrifying vocals, of course you really have hard time understanding what the hell he's saying unless he's talking but whatever. That goes with a lot of bands. I guess if your really that curious you can go hunt down the lyrics somewhere, but I think it's fair enough to say that the music definitely over shadows the vocals. It is utterly intense. Also if you happen to be a fan of killswitch engage...HEY LOOKY THERE! IT'S THE GUITARIST FROM KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. But overall this band is a lot grittier, and better in my opinion.

DISCLAIMER: There happens to be a lot of bands with the name Aftershock. I happened to order one off the internet thinking it was a rare cd by this band and got a totally different band that pretty much amounts to some shitty rap metal band that was god awful, and should be kept away from ears of the general public. Please be careful.

Click on link for sharefolder.Aftershock - Through the Looking GlassAwesome Jameshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06734720851352571436noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897837196544597465.post-18775831339120855682009-02-25T00:37:00.001-08:002009-02-25T00:43:16.568-08:00ForTheLoveOfGoodNinetiesHardcore!ForTheLoveOF...This was another one of those instances where I passed a CD in the used section of Hastings and was intrigued by the cover, and the title "feasting on the will of humanity". I remember my friend, Tyler, introduced to this band a couple years ago, and bought me this CD for 3 bucks at a merch stand. Though I can't remember what show it was this is one of those bands who seriously brought me over into the love of 90's hardcore/metal bands. Such a unique sound.

If you are a fan of Earth Crisis, and Cherem then you will probably love these guys.

Click for Share Folder. Morning Again - The Fallen...The Few That RemainAwesome Jameshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06734720851352571436noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897837196544597465.post-61166535286758654682009-01-16T09:52:00.000-08:002009-01-16T10:18:38.695-08:00Tamerlane...hell yeahHonestly what can you say about a band with a myspace URL like "gofuckyourself"? Actually a whole fucking lot. In anticipation for the new recordings to come out I decided to put this bands old demo into the share folder.
I have no problem jocking these fellas up cause they deserve every bit of it. If you have never seen a Tamerlane show in Salt Lake, then you are missing out on possibly the greatest show on earth (Barnum & Bailey can get fucked). Hell, if you live in Salt Lake and have never witnessed Tamerlane live, even if it was for a song and a half at the Addicted Cafe, then you are without excuse and should probably relocate to a place more panzy-ass to your fitting.
The demo starts off with an powerful instrumental, and doesn't stop there. It's intensely emotional, and probably some of the most pissed off music ever to grace my ears. Pretty vocals, sinister yells, guitarists that know there are more than 2 strings on their instruments, and it's all wrap up nicely with a Lifeless cover at the end.

Now there isn't a lot of bands who sound like these guys, but if you like Starkweather and Section 8, you'll probably enjoy them.

Video courtesy of Grudge City Activities

Tamerlane from Grudge City Activities on Vimeo.

Click For Share Folder. Tamerlane - MARCH 12, 1977 - NOVEMBER 14, 1995Awesome Jameshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06734720851352571436noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897837196544597465.post-54839502850871941172009-01-15T21:54:00.001-08:002009-01-16T23:42:38.324-08:00Enrage from Staten IslandTruth be told, I don't know very much about this band. I know they are from Staten Island and they just barely reunited.
I happened to see a copy of one of their cds in the used section at Hastings. You know with a name like enrage, and a picture on the back was similar to a picture you would find taken at a hardcore show, I thought I'd gamble and pay the 5 bucks to own it. I'm pretty impressed. The riffs were pretty old school, although the vocals got on my nerves, they soon grew on me.
Definitely worth a listen if you happen to be a fan of Life of Agony.

Click for share folder. Enrage - EmptyAwesome Jameshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06734720851352571436noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897837196544597465.post-55694745396710435472009-01-14T23:47:00.000-08:002009-01-16T23:43:03.336-08:00Mine SweeperFirst band I have ever done vocals for. It meant a lot to me, for the short year that we were together as a band. Most fun, in my opinion, was scooting everyone into a little circle and playing Bad Luck 13. We did a lot for having most of the band members being in a shit load of other bands. A 4 song demo? I say "mission accomplished" haha. Not much you can do when only a hand full of kids in your town are instrumentally capable. Most of the members were also in another Ogden project called By My Blood. Not a lot like the other early Ogden bands, if you were looking into something different coming out of Ogden.

Members are now in such bands as REACH, and just recently WATERBOARD.

Click for share folder. Mine Sweeper - DEMO

PS. Both of these albums are amazing. Section 8 is one of my top favorite bands (if not my favorite band) of all times. I couldn't bare to just download "9 ways" so I bought it off of amazon for a whopping $39.99 (good thing too, the price just went up $78 since the CDs have officially sold out and they will never print anymore).
It's easy to see the transition from "Pain is Truth" to "9 Ways" in tuning, and recording quality, but the emotional style they've obtained stays true in both. Personally I enjoyed "9 Ways" a little more, being that I can listen to the whole CD every time without skipping a song, my friend, Jaromy, tends to lean towards "Pain is Truth" for it's rawer sound. They're lyrics are truly spiteful, and honest, and the vocals are almost haunting.
This is a band that you might actually hate listening to them for the first time, but you could come back to them awhile later and go "holy fuck! Nevermind these guys are good".

if you liked Starkweather, then you will probably like Section 8.

Click for share folder. Pain is Truth

Click for share folder. 9 Ways to Say I Love YouAwesome Jameshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06734720851352571436noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897837196544597465.post-9840351361831563412009-01-12T15:12:00.000-08:002009-01-12T15:13:51.829-08:00Ceremony+Davey Havok of AFII love browsing the YouTbe and finding awesome videos of shit, its the best!!!!!!!
xjaromyxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17487497687336676796noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897837196544597465.post-7920728775179940522009-01-12T14:40:00.000-08:002009-01-12T14:41:43.325-08:00Show on January 30th!
everyone in the utah area should try and make it out too these shows, they are the reason hat hardcore became so great, and if you call yourself a hardcore kid, then there is no reason for you too not make it!

see ya there!!xjaromyxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17487497687336676796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1897837196544597465.post-1323145527888308482009-01-12T10:56:00.000-08:002009-01-12T11:03:19.336-08:00Pulling teeth

this band just reminds me of a lot of old school hardcore that i just love. if you are into heavy and fast much like old ringworm style hardcore, with crazy quick solos and the longest song being just over 2 minutes, this is deffinately the band for you. or if you are just the type of person that doesnt care about god, then this is deffinately the band for you. either way, i think these guys deserve some promotion, so check em out on their myspace!

www.myspace.com/pullingteethmdxjaromyxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17487497687336676796noreply@blogger.com0
